Written exams are offered in English, Korean, Spanish and Vietnamese. Candidates can choose their language for their written examination when they sit down to take it.

To apply for Reasonable Testing Accommodation for one or both of your Cosmetology tests, you must:

• Download the Reasonable Testing Accomodation form here.
• Print the Form.
• Fill out the form.
• Mail the form to the Washington State Department of Licensing at the address listed on the form.

DOL will accept or deny all requests for Reasonable Testing Accommodation. They will inform the student of their decision in writing.

This process will take several weeks.

Do not schedule your test until you have DOL approval.

The Department of Licensing offers many foreign language dictionaries for use during the Written test.

To request the use of a foreign language dictionary:

• DO NOT SCHEDULE YOUR TEST YET.
• Email your request to DOL at plssunit@dol.wa.gov.
• When your request is approved, you will be contacted by NTN Support to schedule your exam.

Foreign language dictionaries are kept at the Spokane Testing Center and the Tukwila Testing Centers only. You must take your Written test at one of these locations if DOL approves your request for a language dictionary.

Written Exam: $50.00
Practical Exam: $110.00
After a candidate has successfully completed their exams they log back onto their account and fill out a DOL license application and pay:

Department of Licensing Fee: $25.00
Processing fee: $5.00

Exam fees are non-refundable.

You can request an exam reschedule up until one week before your exam date. A schedule change within one week of an exam is not allowed.

Submit your exam reschedule request by clicking on the "Contact Tech Support" link at www.CosmetologyWashington.com.

We do not accept rescheduling requests over the phone.

With a credit card, you can schedule your test instantly.

If you do not have a credit card you can mail in a payment for a voucher.

To apply for a voucher, log onto your candidate account and click on the 'Pay by Check' link. Print the voucher request form and mail it, with your money order or cashiers' check, to the address listed.

Once your payment is received, a voucher number will be mailed to you. Schedule your tests and use the voucher number to pay.

Voucher purchases will take two weeks to process.
